About Canberra International Clay Target Club

Canberra International Clay Target Club shoots at 6394 Kings Highway, Kowen, east of Queanbeyan. The grounds sit in the Glenburn Heritage precinct. Access is from the Kings Highway only, along the gravel Charcoal Kiln Road (about 2 km in), and the gate is unlocked on shoot days.

Disciplines

Through the Australian Clay Target Association the club shoots Down the Line, ball trap, double trap, American and ISSF skeet, and trench. As the Field & Game Australia Canberra Branch it also runs simulated field. The club is also a member of the NSW Clay Target Association and its Southern Zone.

Shoot days

The club runs a monthly cycle. Five Stand practice is on the first Sunday at 10am, simulated field competition on the second Sunday from 9:30am, American skeet practice and new-shooter lessons on the third Sunday, and DTL competition on the fourth Sunday from 10am. Thursday evenings are for DTL practice and competition. The ground is closed on Total Fire Ban days.

Joining

Beginner lessons are on the third Sunday at 10am, except in January and December. Bookings are essential and numbers are capped at 12. The $85 fee covers a gun, 25 targets and safety gear. The minimum age is 12 and no licence is needed. Members join the club and ACTA, FGA or both. The club runs ACT firearms licence safety training and is a NSW DPI Approved Hunting Organisation for R-licences. Use the enquiry button on this page.
