About Lake Bonney Sporting Clays
Lake Bonney Sporting Clays is a sporting clays branch of the South Australian Field & Game Association (SAFGA). The ground is on Canunda Frontage Road at Tantanoola, about ten minutes from Millicent on the Limestone Coast.
The club was set up in 1999 by a small group of locals who had been shooting clays on a property nearby. Its monthly shoots now draw 70 to 100 shooters from across the South East and the rest of the state, aged from 12 to 80-plus.
Shoot days
The monthly high-gun competition runs on the third Sunday, usually over 75 targets. July's shoot includes the Colin Whitehead Memorial, a 50-target handicap event. The ground hosts one of the two days of the annual Limestone Coast Sporting 150 in September, and in recent years has run a two-day May event with a side-by-side shoot that draws state and interstate shooters. It has also held SAFGA State Qualifying shoots.
