About Gold Coast Pistol Club
Gold Coast Pistol Club has been a multi-discipline membership shooting club since 1963 and calls itself one of the largest shooting clubs in Queensland. The ground at 85 Edmund Rice Drive, Ashmore has three 50m and five 25m outdoor ranges plus an indoor air-pistol range. A firearms dealership, a shop and an RTO running weapons safety courses operate on site, and the range is also used for training by the Queensland Police Service, the AFP and Customs/Border Control.
All ranges and facilities are wheelchair accessible. There is a club room, kitchenette, bar and BBQ area, with a BBQ lunch on Saturdays.
Disciplines
Matches cover ISSF Pistol, IPSC, Action Match, Steel Challenge, WA1500, Service Pistol and 25m Service, Western Action (Single Action), Bowling Pins, Black Powder, Air Pistol, Air Rifle and pistol-calibre rifle including lever action.
Shoot days
The ranges are open to licensed shooters 9am to 5pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 5pm Sunday, apart from Good Friday, Christmas Day, ANZAC Day and scheduled competition closures. Air pistol runs every Wednesday night from 4pm, and a new-member Western Action match runs on the second and fourth Sundays, 9:30am for a 10am start. The rest of the match calendar is set by weekend of the month. Visiting licensed shooters pay a $10 range fee for a scheduled match, or $15 with a member.
Joining
Try Before You Buy lets non-members and unlicensed people aged 11 and up shoot 50 rounds of .22 and 10 rounds of 9mm, on Saturday afternoons from 12:30pm when no formal competition is on. Members get free coaching on Saturday mornings and air pistol coaching on Wednesdays from 6pm, and club guns are available to new members. Use the enquiry button on this page or the club's website.
